The DELE A1 oral, Expresión e interacción orales, is prueba 4 of the paper: a conversation with an examiner, tarea by tarea. This is what is on it, how long each tarea runs, and how it is marked. The structure and timings below are the same ones the oral room on this site runs.

What DELE A1 asks of you, officially

To pass the oral, your speaking has to reach band 2 of the Instituto Cervantes scale, which the body defines as the A1 description of the Common European Framework. At that band, the DELE A1 scale says:

Se expresa mediante palabras, grupos de palabras y enunciados breves, todavía con bastantes errores y/o pausas. Por ello, la comprensión puede requerir cierto esfuerzo, si bien proporciona la información requerida. En la interacción puede necesitar ayuda del interlocutor.

On completing the tareas, band 2 reads: Resuelve las tres tareas y logra transmitir los mensajes, si bien en alguna de las tareas puede hacerlo de forma parcial.

Tarea 1

A list of points to cover in a personal presentation about yourself, lasting roughly one or two minutes.

Speak your presentation to the AI interviewer in the oral room, within the two minutes allowed.

Tarea 2

Five options on a topic, of which you choose three to talk about for roughly two or three minutes.

Speak about your three choices to the AI interviewer in the oral room, within the three minutes allowed.

Tarea 3

The interviewer asks you some questions on the topic of Tarea 2 (the second speaking task). Afterwards you ask the interviewer two questions on that same topic.

Answer and ask your two questions aloud with the AI interviewer in the oral room, within the four minutes allowed.

How it is marked

The oral is marked on the Instituto Cervantes scale of 0 to 3, on the criteria below, with the weights the DELE A1 guide sets. Band 2 is the pass band at DELE A1. This is the same scheme the oral grader on this site uses, not a summary of it.

Bands

Band 1: The level is not reached (No apto).
Band 2: Equivalent to the description of the level in the Common European Framework (Apto).
Band 3: The level is reached comfortably.

The oral counts toward Grupo 2 (Comprensión auditiva + Expresión e interacción orales), which needs 30 points from its sections together. It is passed or failed as a group, never on the total.
