How the Spanish conjugation worksheet generator works

Start with the verbs. The list holds the 600 most common Spanish verbs, each with its English meaning, and you can search it in Spanish or English. Filters narrow it to regular verbs, verbs with a spelling change such as buscar and llegar, irregular and stem-changing verbs, one ending (-ar, -er or -ir), or verbs that are always used with se, and a count shows how many verbs match. A worksheet holds up to 30 verbs, in the order you click them. Then tick the tenses you want. On the preview you choose the kind of sheet, the box size and the paper, and you see every change before you print.

Fill-in boxes, a quick quiz or a verb chart

The fill-in worksheet gives every verb one box for each tense, twelve boxes to a page in four rows of three. Make them smaller to fit fifteen on a page, or bigger for younger learners, with six or four to a page. Each box lists every person, yo, tú, él/ella/usted, nosotros, vosotros and ellos/ellas/ustedes, with a line to write the form on. The answer key is the same boxes filled in and printed on separate pages, so you can hand out the worksheet and keep the key. The quick quiz is a Spanish verb conjugation quiz that gives you practice out of order: 10 to 50 shuffled lines, each asking for one form, such as “nosotros · hablar · preterite”, with a line to write the answer on. Every verb and tense you chose gets a turn before any of them repeats, and the Shuffle button makes a new version for the next class. Its answer key sits on its own page too. The verb chart prints every form filled in, which gives you a printable Spanish verb conjugation chart to keep in a binder.

Preterite, subjunctive and the other tenses

All 15 tenses are available, in four groups. The indicative has the present, preterite, imperfect, future and conditional. The perfect tenses are the present perfect, pluperfect, future perfect and conditional perfect. The subjunctive has the present, the imperfect in its -ra form, the perfect and the pluperfect, and the imperative has affirmative and negative commands. Each tense has its Spanish name printed under the English one (presente, pretérito indefinido and so on). A preterite worksheet for ten irregular verbs takes a few clicks, and so does a subjunctive worksheet that covers all four subjunctive tenses.

Reflexive verbs and commands

Any verb can be made reflexive with the +se button. Add it to levantar and the sheet works with levantarse: me levanto, te levantas and on down the table. Commands get the pronoun attached and the written accent Spanish needs, so the affirmative forms read levántate, levantémonos and levantaos. The answer key prints them in full, so a student can check every accent.

How accurate are the forms?

The forms follow current Real Academia Española spelling, including the 2010 rules that write rio and hui without an accent. They come from Wiktionary, and we checked them against an independent conjugator for the 800 most common verbs. Of 53,399 forms, 53,147 agreed. We checked the other 252 by hand, and Wiktionary was right every time. There is one limit. The sheets use tú only, with no voseo, so learners who use vos will need to add those forms themselves.

Free worksheets for teachers and classrooms

Every sheet has a name and date line, prints cleanly in black and white, and can be photocopied freely. Untick “Include vosotros” for a Latin American Spanish class and the vosotros forms come off the sheet. Build one worksheet per unit or a freshly shuffled one per student. For students preparing for the exam itself, NexaProva also has DELE Spanish practice exams. If you teach German as well, the same generator makes German verb conjugation worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Are these Spanish conjugation worksheets free?

Yes. Build as many worksheets as you like, print them or save them as PDF, with no account, no email address and no watermark. Teachers can photocopy them freely.

Which verbs can I put on a worksheet?

Any of the 600 most common Spanish verbs, ranked by how often they occur in film and TV subtitles. Each verb has its English meaning, and you can search the list in Spanish or English or filter it by verb type and ending. A worksheet holds up to 30 verbs.

Which tenses are included?

Fifteen. In the indicative: present, preterite, imperfect, future and conditional. The perfect tenses: present perfect, pluperfect, future perfect and conditional perfect. In the subjunctive: present, imperfect (-ra form), perfect and pluperfect. In the imperative: affirmative and negative commands.

Can I make a Spanish preterite or subjunctive worksheet?

Yes. Tick only the preterite for a preterite worksheet, or the four subjunctive tenses (present, imperfect, perfect and pluperfect) for a subjunctive one. You can also filter the verb list to irregular and stem-changing verbs, or to -ar, -er or -ir verbs only, so the sheet practices the verbs your class is working on.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. The fill-in boxes and the quick quiz both come with an answer key on separate pages, so the worksheet can go out without it. The verb chart is a conjugation chart with every form filled in already.

Is there a Spanish verb conjugation quiz?

Yes. Choose "Quick quiz" on the preview and the sheet gives 10 to 50 shuffled lines, each asking for one form, such as "nosotros · hablar · preterite". Every verb and tense you picked gets a turn before any of them repeats, and the answer key prints on separate pages. The Shuffle button makes a new version of the quiz for the next class.

Can I leave out vosotros?

Yes. Untick "Include vosotros" and the worksheet drops the vosotros forms, which suits most Latin American Spanish classes. The sheets use tú throughout and do not cover voseo.

Can I print on A4 and US Letter?

Yes. Pick the paper size on the preview before printing, and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog to keep a copy. Every sheet prints in black and white with a name and date line.
